Weekend Camping with the Scouts of Troop 6
Perhaps things have changed since I was a scout. The following is an actual conversation with a Boy Scout this weekend:
Me: Where’s your coat?
Scout: I don’t have a coat.
Me: But it’s 40 degrees.
Scout (shivering): So?
Me: Your lips are turning blue.
Scout: So?
Me: You’re in a short-sleeved shirt!
Scout (going into hypothermic shock): So?
Me: Do you know what the Scout motto is?
Scout: No.
Congratulations. Here’s your Eagle Scout Award!

Maybe a pink belly would have warmed him up and taught him to recollect the scout motto.
